Some horses and ponies can become over excitable and unpredictable when fed feeds containing a high level of cereals. Cereals contain starch which is digested relatively quickly by the horse producing what is known as “quick release energy”. It is this type of energy than can cause some horses or ponies to become fizzy.
To reduce the risk of behavioural problems it is advisable to reduce the amount of cereal starch in the diet. SPILLERS® Horse and Pony Cubes have controlled levels of cereal starch and good levels of fibre to help reduce the risk of over-excitability.
SPILLERS® Horse and Pony Cubes are the original and the best non-heating* cube, low in cereal starch. Ideal for horses and ponies with low to medium energy requirements. The formulation now benefits from the addition of magnesium, known for its calming properties. Also contains an excellent vitamin and mineral formulation support package for long-term well-being
* A non-heating feed is one that is less likely to produce excitable behaviour in some horses and ponies when fed at the recommended rate.
